Faithfulness till the end.
Joshua 11:23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.
When we read the Book of Joshua, it can seem as though Joshua experienced quick and effortless victories in battle. The walls of Jericho fell, kings were defeated, and the land was taken, almost as if everything happened suddenly. However, Scripture reveals a deeper truth. In Joshua 11:18, it says that Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. The journey was not short. It was long and demanding. What Moses began, Joshua faithfully completed.
To understand this truth more clearly, we must look back to Numbers 13:31 – 33. The ten spies brought back a bad report, saying that the people of the Promised Land were like giants, the descendants of Anak, and that they themselves were like grasshoppers in comparison. Fear shaped their perspective. But Joshua saw differently. He trusted God. He led the children of Israel into victory and defeated the Anakim. The Bible declares in Joshua 11:22, that none of the Anakim were left in the land of the children of Israel. The greatest reason for his success was his trust in God’s promises. Although the battle was long, Joshua remained faithful and carefully followed God’s instructions. He did not focus on his circumstances or his situation. Instead, he sought the Lord and moved forward in faith. Joshua lived with a deep reverence for God.
This reveals an important truth for every believer. The most important value in the Christian life is to trust the Word of God and remain faithful in devotion to Him. Everything either rises or falls on this foundation. There will be moments when answers do not come quickly. There will be seasons when your faith is tested, stretched, and even shaken. But do not quit. Do not turn back. Stay faithful to God. When you remain faithful, God will lead you. He will guide you and make a way where there seems to be no way. The path may not always be clear to you, but it is always clear to Him. Only God knows the right way. Only God can open the right doors. So, trust His Word, stay devoted, and keep moving forward in faith. Your breakthrough is not determined by your timing, but by your faithfulness.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me to trust Your Word and remain faithful in every season. When the journey is long and the answers seem delayed, strengthen my heart to keep going. Help me not to focus on my circumstances, but to fix my eyes on Your Word. Give me the endurance to stand firm, the courage to obey, and the faith to believe that You are leading me in the right way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Revelation 2:10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
