Beware Of Deceiving Spirits.

1 John 4: 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

One of the greatest deceptions in this world is that many do not believe in the existence of evil spirits completely. There are some who believe in spiritual being but they either say it is one of the gods or some human’s spirit roaming around. The bible clearly states that there are evil spirits and they oppose God and His people. Why is the deception so successful? The reason is because it uses the truth but distorts it in such a way that the simple-minded person cannot differentiate between truth and lies. It looks genuine and authentic but evil spirits are actively at work to deceive and get people to move away from God. I want believers to be aware of deceiving spirit. The above verse encourages us to test the spirits. How do we test the spirits? One of the best ways is to check whether every spoken word is correctly quoted from the word of God. You can further confirm it by speaking to the pastors of the church and also ask God to reveal the genuineness of a person. The false prophet can be a friend that we know very well and it would be difficult to sense the deception that is at work because of our knowledge of the person over the years. Sometimes, we cannot accept the fact that someone close to us that we know is a false prophet. From the beginning, we need to build our life with God’s word and have fellowship with the Holy Spirit so that we can immediately recognise falsehood. Let us be aware of deceiving spirits and test every spirit before accepting them.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be aware to deceiving spirits that uses people around me to remove me from You. Help me to stand on Your word. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Romans 16: 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
