When God Gives Peace to a Nation.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
There was a time in Malaysia when the roads were not safe. Many of our grandparents still remember those days. From 1942 to 1945, Malaya was occupied by Japan during World War II. Life was very difficult. People lived in fear. Anyone suspected of going against Japanese rule could be arrested or punished. The Japanese secret police, called the “Kempeitai”, made many people afraid. Food was hard to get. Rice and other basic foods were limited. Many families had to grow their own food or eat things like tapioca and sweet potatoes. Because there was not enough food, many people became weak and sick. The economy was also badly affected. Many businesses struggled. People had very little freedom. They could not speak freely or travel wherever they wanted. Every day was filled with uncertainty and fear. Many people suffered. Some were forced to work against their will. Families were separated, and many lost loved ones during the war.
When I read Judges 5:10-11, I am reminded that peace is a blessing that should never be taken for granted. There was a time when people could not travel safely and lived in fear. Today, Malaysia enjoys peace, safety, and freedom. When we look at the peace and stability we enjoy in Malaysia today, we should thank God for His goodness and protection. We should also pray for our leaders and those in authority, asking God to give them wisdom and guidance so that our nation may continue to enjoy peace, safety, and freedom.
