Faithfulness That Finishes.

2 Timothy 4 :7-8 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Moses defeated two kings, Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Bashan, while Joshua defeated thirty-one kings. Does this make Joshua greater than Moses? No, because greatness in the Kingdom of God is not measured by numbers. It is measured by obedience. It is measured by faithfulness. Both Moses and Joshua were faithful to the end, and God was faithful to them. God did great miracles during their time. Numbers or statistics do not define greatness. Rather, obedience and faithfulness in finishing our race determine the final outcome.

Sometimes people have great numbers but lack obedience and faithfulness. For example, King Saul in First Book of Samuel chapter 15. God told him to destroy the Amalekites. Saul went to battle and won, showing strength and numbers. But he did not fully obey God. He spared King Agag and kept the best animals instead of destroying everything as instructed.

Then the prophet Samuel said, “To obey is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22).

Your calling might be standing in prayer for someone who is sick. It may be serving meals when no one is watching. It may be helping the needy, teaching children, or simply sharing your testimony. It could be visiting someone in an old folks’ home, reaching out to someone, who others have forgotten, or refusing to neglect the person God has placed in your life. Whatever your calling is, it is a commitment between you and God. When you stay faithful in the little things, God sees it, God honours it, and God will use it. Because in the Kingdom of God, nothing done in faithfulness is ever wasted. Will we follow Him all the way to the end, or will we stop halfway and give up?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Help me to remain faithful to You until the end. When the journey is long and difficult, give me strength to endure and a heart that obeys Your Word. Teach me to be faithful in the small things and to trust You in every season. Lead me in Your way, and help me finish the race strong. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Galatians 6:9–10 9And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
