God has the power over everything.

1 Kings 2:13-15 13 Now Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. So she said, “Do you come peaceably?” And he said, “Peaceably.” 14 Moreover he said, “I have something to say to you.” And she said, “Say it.” 15 Then he said, “You know that the kingdom was mine, and all Israel had set their expectations on me, that I should reign. However, the kingdom has been turned over, and has become my brother’s; for it was his from the Lord.

King David was old and advanced in years. Knowing this situation well, Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king”; and he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. Because his father had not rebuked him at any time by saying, “Why have you done so?”, he did as he liked. Then, this news was informed to David by Bathsheba and confirmed by prophet Nathan. Then, King David immediately called Solomon his son, and made him King after him. After that, Adonijah was very afraid of King Solomon. In 1 Kings 2, David rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of David. Then Solomon sat on the throne of his father David; and his kingdom was firmly established. Knowing this very well, Adonijah came again to see Bathsheba and said, “You know that the kingdom was mine, and all Israel had set their expectations on me, that I should reign. However, the kingdom has been turned over, and has become my brother’s; for it was his from the Lord.”

What a powerful declaration! Adonijah knew that it was God who establishes the kingdom and not man. Even though all Israel set their expectations on Adonijah to be the next ruler to David, but it was not God’s will. It was Solomon to be the next king, and this was God’s will. So, God turned over the kingdom to Solomon and it was his from the Lord! God has the power to give to anyone He wishes. In your life, if you think someone has taken over your position in your working place or in school, do not worry. Come before Him in prayer. If it is yours according to His will, He will give back to you. When it is from God, no one can take it away.

Daniel 2:21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Daniel 4:35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, “What have You done?”
