THE POWER OF GOD’S WORD
2 Kings 22:11 Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes.
Josiah became king at just eight years old, yet his heart was tender toward God. When the Book of the Law was found in the temple, he realized how far the nation had drifted from God’s ways. Instead of ignoring the truth, Josiah humbled himself, repented, and led his people back to God. He called the kingdom together so everyone could hear the words of God’s law. He not only cleaned up the temple, but the whole kingdom. Foreign idols throughout the kingdom destroyed. His story shows the power of God’s Word to convict and transform lives. We too have God’s Word in our hands. Will we let it shape our hearts, decisions, and actions? Like Josiah, let us humbly respond to Scripture, allowing it to guide us back whenever we wander, and lead us toward renewal and obedience.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (NIV)
Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (NIV)
